We are fully aware that the focus of this website is almost entirely Flash SEO related, but we cannot leave out the competition and their claims when we analyze what needs to be done when it comes to making your site, in its entirety, SEO friendly.
One topic that will surely keep arising, because of media hype and gigantic marketing campaigns, is Microsoft's Silverlight and it's already (supposedly) SEO friendliness.
Many experts are calling the claim that Silverlight is SEO friendly, a complete falsity. The fact that Microsoft has enough money to make Eskimos buy Ice shaped like the Windows Logo makes it very easy for the company's PR firm to blanket Joe Public with statements that make no sense, and make their products seem amazing, when they simply do not deliver.
For a great example of the Microsoft machine making a claim that simply is not true, read Silverlight More SEO Friendly than Flash? I Call Shenanigans by Ryan Stewart. Mr. Sewart shows the real value of an XML spider for a Silverlight application in this eye opening article.
I applaud Adobe for their efforts to keep Flash alive and to make Flash SEO possible, and I hope that they can work well with the search engines to make this possible. As for the claim that Silverlight is SEO friendlier … I call Shenanigans too.

Word around the campfire is that Flash SEO techniques are already developed and in use by Google, Yahoo, and other search engines. The folks here at SEO my Flash aren't necessarily skeptics, but we like to see a little more proof than a press release. If Flash SEO is taking place out there, we want to know that it is happening.
SEO my Flash was developed to specifically deal with Flash SEO news, tools, tips and tricks, but also experiments. With that being said, the developers at SEO my Flash are going to create a website that has Flash and SWISH elements built into it … every conceivable Flash SEO technique will be used, and we will be testing to see if Adobe, Google, and Yahoo are really up-to-date with Flash SEO reading, or if they are making a mountain from a molehill.
When our experiment is complete, SEO my Flash will be able to report our own findings about Flash SEO and keep you updated with the latest and greatest developments that we find when we implement our own Flash SEO.
The site should serve not only the purpose of detailing the efficiency of Flash SEO, but it may also lend insight into which software, Flash or SWISH, is more SEO friendly. As of this article, neither company had answered our requests for an interview. Our philosophy has become: "If they will not inform us about Flash SEO progress, we will find the answers ourselves."
Our developers are diligently working to get this simple, yet highly Flash SEO friendly, page together. Our analysis of the effectiveness of Flash SEO will be public and well documented, so … Check back often for updates on our Flash SEO experiment and look for our links to the site, coming soon. |

There's been a lot of Flash SEO talk lately - some who love it, some who hate it, and others who are primarily indifferent to the entire concept. A few posts we've stumbled upon this last week argue that Adobe owes developers some kind of Flash SEO tool to help them properly prime Flash websites for SEO. Let's examine two key points to this: 1. Adobe's Flash SEO FAQ states that ALL Flash content is now indexable by Google and Yahoo!, which we take to mean that all content on all Flash-based websites can be SEO'd. 2. The Adobe Flash SEO FAQ also makes a statement that like HTML pages, new ideas and methods will surface regarding the best way to SEO Flash. The only thing that we can see missing is that there are a variety of tools that can tell you how your website looks to search engines; but perhaps only Yahoo! and Google tools will be able to tell you what Flash websites look like to their search engines. In the interest of learning more about Flash SEO and how to tell if your Flash website is being properly optimized, we are going to perform a test and report back on the best way to see how search engines are spidering your Flash website. Stay tuned for more on this Flash SEO conundrum... |

The debate rages on about whether or not Flash SEO will be possible and if it will do any good once it is because of the inability of some machines to even run Flash. A new contender has entered the arena in the past couple of years, and with it comes the highly publicized fact that it can, in fact, be read by the search engines. Silverlight 2.0, Microsoft's supposed answer to Flash, may mean that people won't even bother trying Flash SEO techniques, but rather pay developers to create new "fresh" material and RIA's made from the software juggernaught's newest internet development software.
Can Microsoft dethrone Flash?
Will Flash SEO become obsolete before it becomes popular?
